Selectboard to honor longtime volunteers Cindy Beaudoin-Valyou and Jody Valyou with Don Turner Jr. Award

Kary O’Brien Towne, clerk of the Don Turner Jr. Award Committee, told the Selectboard the committee received eight nominations involving 48 individuals and recommended this year’s recipients. The resolution adopted by the board recognizes Cindy Beaudoin-Valyou and Jody Valyou for extensive volunteer work at the Arrowhead Senior Citizens Center and across town partnerships with organizations such as AARP, Age Well and UVM Medical Center Family Health.
Selectboard Member Betsy Paret moved to accept the committee’s recommendation; Leland Morgan seconded the motion and the board approved it unanimously. The resolution noted the recipients’ roles in reducing social isolation and strengthening the town’s volunteer networks; the names will remain confidential until they are publicly recognized at National Night Out.
