Town to use $28,286 in state fee revenue to support school food scrap recycling

Beth Evans, Director of Environmental Affairs, explained the funds come from a state-collected fee on miniature liquor bottles that the state remits to the Town twice annually; the funds have historically supported the elementary schools' food scrap recycling program. Julie DesChamps provided background on a related $150,000 state grant that previously funded the program through June 30, 2025. Committee members discussed expanding the program to additional schools and transitioning from semiannual to annual appropriations going forward.
