Kennett council adopts ordinances resetting board term start dates and shrinking Planning & Zoning commission

The Kennett City Council unanimously adopted two ordinances on July 7 that change local board terms and the composition of the Planning and Zoning Commission. City Clerk Mandy Lewis read Ordinance No. 3117, described as "an Ordinance establishing the starting date of the terms of members of the Board of Adjustments/Appeals, Park Board, Kennett Memorial Airport Board, Kennett Board of Public Works and Planning and Zoning," and Council approved the measure after a motion by Council Member Randy Carter and a second from Council Member Mark Bryant.
The council then considered Ordinance No. 3118, which reduces the Kennett Planning and Zoning Commission from twelve members to seven and removes voting privileges for the Mayor, a City Council member and the Code Enforcement Officer. City Clerk Lewis read the ordinance; Council Member Mark Bryant moved approval, seconded by Council Member Lora Tate. The clerk recorded a roll-call vote with Lisa Dry, Randy Carter, Mark Bryant, James Waynick, Harry Gaddis, Lora Tate, Steve Panousis, Jimmy French and Bob Young all voting yes. The ordinances take effect per the language read by the clerk. The actions were routine votes recorded in the minutes and require no additional board action listed in the meeting record.
