NJTPA demo library offers temporary equipment to support local demonstrations

A NJTPA representative told the board their demonstration library can loan physical items — delineators, paint, temporary speed-control devices and placemaking furniture — to municipalities conducting temporary roadway demonstrations. The resource is intended to help communities test treatments without incurring full capital costs. "We have all of the items available... you would borrow on a weekend to three months," the NJTPA representative said.
Board members asked about logistics and transit of materials; NJTPA staff said communities are responsible for collection logistics but the library has supported municipalities with transportation and staging advice. Members suggested borrowing Jersey barriers or temporary speed humps to pilot traffic-calming measures in advance of larger construction projects.
