Board approves pool class fees, lifeguard training and equipment purchases

District Office Manager Gia Cruz said there is overwhelming interest in pool aerobics and recommended charging $10 per resident and $15 per non-resident for one-hour classes if at least five people enroll. Trustee Terry Zimmerly moved to adopt those fees; the board approved the motion unanimously.
Cruz also proposed in-house lifeguard certification at $150 per person (or $250 if the trainee keeps training books). The board approved buying six lifeguard manuals at $50 each and agreed the district will pay the $150 certification fee up front; employees may choose to work off that amount or repay it immediately. The certification payment was approved 4–1, with Trustee Kyle Weatherly voting no. The board also authorized up to $500 from Recreation Committee funds to purchase games for pool staff to check out.
