County staff: shelter-bed capacity at about 216 after provider closure; funding formula to be redistributed

Staff reported that Lifeboat closed effective July 19 and that other providers reconfigured spaces; CCA increased bed capacity by an additional 10 after an earlier 22-bed change, yielding a reported total of about 216 beds available between Astoria and Seaside. "We are up to 216," staff said when summarizing current nightly-bed counts. Staff added they are awaiting plan approval from the Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS), which sets the county's funding formula, and that the county will redistribute the $73.26 formula amount if no provider steps forward to add capacity.
Board members said the update will help hospitals, law enforcement and referral partners know how to connect people to available shelter and asked staff to circulate clear referral instructions to community partners.
