Board questions LLC ownership plan, asks whether Head Start and grant recipients would qualify

Travis responded that attorneys would need to structure ownership and control so grant recipients have the legal control funders require. “You have to have that property before you can set up those 501(c)(3)s,” he said, and he added that attorneys would advise how to allocate portions of property or control to nonprofit partners so they could apply for grants. The board discussed condominium‑style deeds, deeded portions and other mechanisms but deferred final legal arrangements to counsel.
