Airport operations staff described a narrow 1.18-acre parcel acquired years ago that includes a derelict house and a pole barn in disrepair and standing water in the basement. Staff said the parcel could be kept as leverage for future federal entitlement matches or appraised and sold if bids meet the Division of Aviation's requirements, but indicated the outbuildings likely need demolition for safety.
"I think the tax value is about a 111,000," Airport Operations said when describing the parcel's value and recommended the board decide whether to get an appraisal or hold the land. Commissioners asked staff to obtain estimates for making the lot safe and return with cost figures at the next meeting before any decision about sale or surplus is made.
