County Manager Chris Gennov told the board the Town of Pilot Mountain is repaying debts after selling property but asked to use an Invest in Surry allocation of $112,519 for a culvert replacement project at the Armfield Recreation Center rather than returning the funds. Staff inspected the site and recommended permitting the repurposing to address a safety and access issue.
"It was a $112,519," Gennov said when listing the original allocation and the cost estimate included in the board packet. Commissioners acknowledged the site visit and, following a motion, approved allowing the town to use the funds for the culvert replacement as the original intended purpose.
