Board approves modern global conflict, digital citizenship and several ELA and math curriculum updates

The board considered several curriculum and instructional items for the 2026–27 school year and approved the modern global conflict curriculum after questions raised at a July 9 curriculum meeting were answered. "There was a question last month, and then at the July 9 curriculum meeting, Mr. Whitman did attend and... that was actually answered and resolved," the Chair said before calling the vote; the motion carried 6–0.
The committee also presented a middle school digital citizenship curriculum covering grades 5–8, English language arts curricula for grades 1–3, 5–8 and 11–12, and an updated K–8 elementary and middle school math curriculum. Staff noted the kindergarten curriculum required separate revisions and was not attached; the ELA and math changes were described as updates to select sections with learning targets largely unchanged. The board moved the presented curriculum items forward for approval during the meeting.
Board materials included textbooks and curriculum disposal forms (about 20 forms, mainly English textbooks no longer used). Committee members described the disposal as routine inventory cleanup rather than removal of required instructional materials.
