During the meeting Mary K. Outzen had recommended Jack Hammond as a Grand Marshal nominee for the July 24 parade; Councilmember Perry Payne also nominated Ron Mills and spoke to Mills' service to the community, noting roughly 20 years with the fire department and a role in the South Monroe Water merger. Dave Coe described the Hoopin' Hotrod Car Show (6:00'9:00 p.m. the evening before the parade) and said participants receive barbecue tickets as part of their entry fee. He also proposed a second car show on Aug. 29 at Lions Park with a cruise route along Main Street.
Councilmember Payne moved to select Ron Mills as the 2026 Grand Marshal; Councilmember Ryan Johnson seconded. The roll call vote was Bagley, Johnson, Mathie and Payne in favor; the motion carried unanimously, 4-0. The council asked that the July 24 poster identify the Breakfast in the Park as a Senior Citizen fundraiser and that Sevier County Sheriff's Office be notified about the car show cruise route. Councilmember Payne said he will contact Mr. Mills.
