Roeland Park council approves pool vacuum, AV upgrade and public-art rollover

Council approved a series of procurement and budget-adjacent items during the meeting. Parks Superintendent Nathan Brungart requested purchase of a commercial pool vacuum from Landmark Aquatics and council approved the motion with a not-to-exceed amount of $7,000 to allow minor price adjustments. Brungart said the current vacuum dates to 2019 and the recommended replacement includes a two-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Staff also presented a proposal to replace aging audio-visual components in the council chamber to address intermittent recording and camera issues. Keith Moody described the Mission Electronics quote and a plan to reuse some surplus components. Council approved the AV package at a price not to exceed $32,630.
Separately, the arts committee requested that remaining 2025 public-art funds be rolled into the community foundation to support larger master-plan projects; the council approved that rollover by voice vote. No further budget appropriations were made at the meeting; staff said available 2025 funds would be used for the purchases.
