BEAR team adopts 'Goldie' and expands recovery court coordination with Caldwell

Dr. Katie Samuels told the Burke County Opioid Advisory Committee that the BEAR team is standardizing case management with a platform called Goldie to track encounters and support recovery‑court case management. She said the regional recovery court launched July 1 and an interlocal agreement with Caldwell County will fund a shared coordinator as the prosecutorial district realigns in January 2027.

Samuels outlined how Goldie and related technology aim to reduce duplicate systems and improve data: "We have been really excited about our case management software for the BEAR team called Goldie," she said, adding the platform will support dashboards of KPIs when reporting moves into Goldie on July 1. She reported six total grant submissions tied to this work—two awards and four pending—and said the county sent a letter to Dogwood requesting funding to adopt Goldie as a regional platform.

The committee discussed capacity and next steps: Samuels said Caldwell and Burke are currently funding shared positions with opioid‑settlement dollars and plan coordinated grant applications. She recommended periodic provider reports once Goldie reporting and dashboards are active to evaluate outcomes and national comparisons.
