Fayetteville trustees moved and approved a board resolution to support a consolidated funding application (CFA) and to pursue a geothermal project feasibility and match funding strategy. The board discussed trimming the project scope (removing hot-water work and test-score items from the grant application) which reduced the proposal to roughly $1,000,106 in matching funds required if the grant is approved.
Trustees and staff cautioned that the village has not committed to full construction and that the application is intended to fund exploratory work and position the village for future funding. The board discussed funding sources, including county planning support and a state smart-growth program, and agreed that if the county provided funding prior to the July 31 CFA submission the village would not file a duplicate request. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
