Superintendent Andy Grishowiak delivered the district's 2025–26 budget message at the April 9 board meeting, framing the plan around constrained revenue and rising costs. He told the board that state school fund timing (49% year 1, 51% year 2) and recent inflation have strained the district's position, and that the district is planning under the assumption of a mid‑year reduction in federal Title funding.
The superintendent and the district's business staff presented key assumptions and figures: enrollment at about 1,199 students, a beginning fund balance of $2,660,354 (above the 8% minimum and near 12%), and a general fund budget of $22,690,003.47. Major expenditure drivers include PERS rate increases and a jump in property/liability insurance (PACE) that staff said may increase around 18%. The superintendent also noted a $1.3 million PERS bond repayment this year and said the district has used attrition and program consolidations to absorb prior reductions.
Business manager/CC guided the board through the budget book and highlighted specific allocations including 10.3 certified and 3.3 classified positions funded from the Student Investment Account (SIA), federal and state grant assumptions, and projected property tax collection rates. "Our beginning fund balance of 25/26 school years is estimated at a budgeted amount of $2,660,354," the presenter said. Board members were directed to review detail pages in the budget book and submit questions to the district office for follow-up.
