Council approves $135,000 culvert replacement at 819 Pound Hill Road

Director of Public Works Ray Pentagas (S16) asked the council to authorize reconstruction of an outdated culvert at 819 Pound Hill Road. Plans by Joe Caselli Engineering call for replacing the existing pipe with a larger 24-inch culvert sized to convey a 100-year storm; Rhode Island DEM wetlands permits have been granted for the work.
Pentagas said the projected cost is $135,000 and that funding will come from the capital 2627 project budget; the town would piggyback the contract off a competitive bid the city of Woonsocket used with the same contractor. Councilors asked whether the scope matched Woonsocket’s culvert work and discussed timing and notifications for a road closure. A motion to approve the Diggers Landscaping contract for $135,000 and authorize the administrator to sign passed by roll call.
