Committee plans bid package for restoration of public sculptures after quick Clarence repair

The committee reviewed recent maintenance work and plans for restoration of multiple public artworks. Chair (S1) described a rapid repair that local artists completed after the festival damaged the sculpture known as "Clarence," saying, "Clarence had moved around for almost 4 years and we got it in place and 2 weeks later he got smashed real hard."
The Chair said staff will work with Parks and local contractors to compile a single package request for proposals covering transport, deinstallation, restoration and reinstallation of several bronze pieces and their bases. She noted some pieces mainly need base work or cleaning while others may require fuller restoration. On cost, the Chair said the Statue of Liberty soldier pieces were estimated to be "around 7 or 8,000" dollars each, and said the committee may have to prioritize projects as bids arrive.
