The Salina Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on July 15 introduced Chris Warnick as the department’s new recreation supervisor. Staff said Warnick began in mid-May and will oversee seasonal programs including soccer registration, which he noted accepts sign-ups through mid-August.
"My name is Chris Warnick. I'm originally from Nebraska. Started here on May 18," Warnick said, adding that he had just finished a summer soccer program the night before. Travis (board staff) introduced Warnick to the board as the department’s new recreation supervisor for Salina Parks and Recreation.
Board members welcomed Warnick and noted the role will be important as several fall and youth programs prepare for registration. Warnick emphasized outreach to families and that the department will accept registrations for fall soccer through August (staff references varied between Aug. 16 and Aug. 18).
The board did not take formal action on the hire at the meeting; staff said further program updates, including a fuller aquatics report for Kenwood Cove, are expected at the next meeting.
