Parks staff: Jambarica ran smoothly; transit, police and volunteers credited

Sam Dudley, a parks staff member, told the commission the 4th annual Jambarica at the Lake Leatherwood ball fields ran smoothly and that the townwide scheduling (the 250th anniversary events) helped disperse crowds. "This month was obviously highlighted by our 4th annual Jambarica 4th of July celebration," Dudley said, and he credited Cornerstone Bank, Hidden Valley Guest Ranch, Clear Springs School, Eureka Springs Transit and the police and fire departments for support.
Commissioners flagged a few logistics items for next year, including a larger dumpster and clearer publicity about paid parking. Commissioner (speaker 7) noted the fireworks lasted an extended period—"I think it lasted 42 minutes," he said—and commissioners said closing roads at 7:30 p.m. and offering shuttle rides improved crowd flow. The commission also discussed portable misting options to cool crowds at future events and recommended collecting specific operational lessons to inform next year’s planning.
