Silver Creek Township supervisors approve lease, sell old pickup and authorize culvert work

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors met Nov. 26, 2024, and approved routine business and several new actions, including a lease, a vehicle sale and maintenance planning. Chairman Mike Helman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen moved to approve the agenda, adding 'Sale of Pickup' under new business, and the motion carried 5-0.
During new business the board approved the Starry Gravel Pit lease (motion by Geyen, second by Supervisor Sandy Forsman; carried 5-0) and instructed staff to sell the township's old pickup on Elsenpeter Auction after the 2013 F-550 is delivered this week or next (motion by Helman, second by Geyen; carried 5-0). The board also audited and recorded disbursements including Pera $1,123.04; Wright County $150.00; West Central $5,845.21; Chatham Township $30.00; and Cortrust $28.62.
The maintenance report identified a contractor with a possible Dec. 3–4 start date for the 134th culvert replacement project; supervisors said they will request a county extension to submit invoices in order to secure grant funding. The board also approved a $200 donation to 'Jason,' the trapper who removed three beavers from 150th Street, with a recorded abstention by Supervisor Andy Christensen (donation motion carried 4-0 with one abstention). The meeting adjourned following a motion by Vice Chairman Geyen and a second by Supervisor Andy Christensen.
