Spring City planning commission seeks competitive bids for new general plan

Cami Christensen, chair of the Spring City Planning & Zoning Commission, and Zoning Administrator Craig Paulsen told commissioners on June 24 that they had located a firm willing to write a new general plan and had handed out the company's proposal to commission members.
Commissioners said the proposal's scope and cost mean the city must solicit multiple bids; they recorded that three bids will be required before the commission can approve a contract. Paulsen also told the commission that the Master Transportation Plan will require approval from the City Council, so any work tied to transportation elements will need that separate sign-off.
The proposal itself was not discussed in detail in the minutes and no dollar amounts were recorded at the meeting. The commission's next step, as noted on the agenda, is a competitive procurement process to evaluate multiple submissions before any contract is awarded.
