Clemson says office handled about 2,248 cases; plans revamped alcohol and education programs

At the July 23 board meeting, Dr. Jonathan Pettigrew reported caseload figures and described prevention steps the university plans to take.
Pettigrew said, "Our office, handled approximately 2,248 cases," adding that 1,334 were assigned to his office and 914 to residential-living staff. He reviewed 2024–25 sample breakdowns as context, citing 962 medical-call cases, 161 quiet-hours cases, 72 stealing incidents and 44 drug-related cases.
To reduce alcohol-related incidents, Pettigrew said the office is revamping residential-life conduct and educational programming. He described Tiger Accountability as an educational option for low-level, first-offense alcohol cases and said the office will shift from automatic online assignments toward in-person developmental conversations and improved collaboration with health services and counseling.
Pettigrew also said he will evaluate and update older educational programs so they better resonate with students and reduce repeat conduct problems.
