Supervisor Ryan Nelson moved to delay the decision so the board could consult neighboring townships; Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen seconded. The motion carried 3-1. During the discussion, board members and members of the audience expressed concern about potential tax increases to cover maintenance and replacement and whether county activation and maintenance contractors would remain available in the future.
The board said it will reach out to surrounding townships for their conclusions on the sirens before making a final determination. No formal agreement to accept the sirens was made at the meeting; the issue will return to the board within the two-week extension.
