Conflict Defender Building near move-in pending generator startup and security recommendations

Superintendent Thomas Windus said exterior work on the Conflict Defender Building is wrapping up, with topsoil, seeding and grading complete, bollards installed at the gas meter and generators per code, and heating and HVAC systems finished. DPW staff training on building systems is scheduled and a generator startup is planned for July 8; Windus said move-in can proceed after those steps but may be delayed to address security recommendations from a recent tour.
Committee Chairman Kevin “Fred” Demick asked about a target move-in date; Windus said they could move in Monday pending resolution of the security concerns and the generator startup. Legislator C. Bessette asked if any other items remained; Windus said training, generator startup and verifying generator function were the remaining tasks and noted the Board of Elections office may need a one-day electrical closure to finalize work.
