County Superintendent Thomas Windus provided a construction update on the new Department of Public Works shop, reporting that crews are sorting steel and that a crane will be on site Monday to begin erecting the mechanic and shop-side steel. Insulation with a vapor barrier is being installed on the ground and contractors are installing piping for radiant floor heating around the office perimeter.
Windus said the concrete floor for the office space is scheduled for next week, weather permitting; once the concrete is secure a scissor lift will be brought in to erect office-side steel and then crews will begin raising steel for the large truck storage building. The update indicates steady progress with sequencing dependent on weather and concrete cure times.
