Committee authorizes creation of Crane Operator Apprentice position to build training pipeline

The committee approved the request on a motion by Legislator C. Bessette, seconded by Legislator R. Whitney, and referred the matter to Personnel (to create) and Ways and Means (to fill).
Legislator D. Healy asked whether the county could require the person to remain in the position for a guaranteed period; Mr. Windus answered they could not "lock them in for a period of time" but noted there is an interested individual and that creating the position will provide a pipeline for training future operators.
