Staff told the committee that the resurfacing and preservation program is currently out to bid with responses due March 25 and that this year’s package includes about 8.6 miles of Beaufort County roads plus 3.78 miles of DOT roads. "Bids are due March 25... that's approximately 8.6 miles of Beaufort County Road and 3.78 miles of DOT roads that we're doing that in that year," staff said.
The Rejuvenator program was described as covering roughly 24 miles in this cycle; staff said the county has touched about 150 miles of roads in the last seven to eight years. Committee members discussed timing and the plan to align ADT-based programs (0–500 and 500–2,000 ADT) in year 9 to improve bidding and management efficiencies. Bluffton Parkway resurfacing and US 278 resurfacing were noted as approved by county council, pending an executed contract and purchase order to set start dates.
