Finance committee recommends roughly $1.9 million for affiliate agencies in budget process

Councilmember Alex Brown, reporting for the Finance Administrative Committee, said the committee met twice since the last council meeting and recommended allocations totaling roughly $1,900,000 for affiliate agencies to be considered at the budget’s first reading. He said staff were directed to engage affiliate agencies on memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and that the committee asked staff and the town attorney to review and revise affiliate criteria where needed.
"So ultimately, there was a recommendation made that will go to the budget process," Brown said, noting full council involvement outside committee members in the recent discussions. The committee also gave staff direction to examine existing MOUs and make recommendations on consistency and criteria for affiliate agency funding.
