The committee voted to approve an $84,460 contribution to the Chicago North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau for fiscal year 2027. Gina Speckman presented hotel-occupancy, average-daily-rate and RevPAR figures and described targeted digital advertising work that drives stays during major events in Chicago and at Northwestern University. "This shows the hotel occupancy for the month of June...outside of Downtown Chicago, we are higher than any other area in Metropolitan Chicago," Speckman said.
A motion to approve funding was moved and seconded; the committee recorded ayes and the motion passed. Members who spoke in favor noted the bureau’s work brings out-of-town visitors whose spending supports restaurants and merchants during off-peak times.
