Council proclaims March 2025 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Mayor Alan Perry read and signed a proclamation proclaiming March 2025 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in the Town of Hilton Head Island and urged residents to support access to education, housing and employment for people with developmental disabilities.
Galen Stewart Camio, introduced by the mayor as chair of the Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs Advisory Board, addressed the council and thanked officials for the proclamation. Camio praised Beaufort County staff and programs that support individuals from early intervention through adult services, saying the county’s employees "do such wonderful work to support the and foster the independence of every single individual that they're working with."
