Town Manager Mark Orlando told the council the town deployed multiple apparatus and personnel to assist Horry County with a Carolina Forest wildfire under the South Carolina firefighter mobilization agreement. He said crews returned after "completing 96 hours of deployment where they worked 4 hours on and 4 hours off for 4 days straight." The deployment included an engine company, a brush truck and a battalion chief drawn from regional resources.
Orlando also announced internal promotions: Kelly Ucigi to stormwater operations manager; Jeff Netzinger to engineering director; and Theresa McVay to division lead for traffic operations. He provided progress updates and target dates for local projects: Stony Oaks landscape improvements are anticipated to be complete around April 4; Pope Avenue landscaping work is expected between March 31 and April 7; and Matthews Drive/Beach City Circle landscaping is expected by April 8. Orlando said the William Hilton Parkway improvements are progressing but are affected by contractor and equipment availability.
"So a lot of good work going on, a lot at once, and I appreciate your support," Orlando told the council.
