Council approves long‑term lease for Sandalwood Community Food Pantry, 6–1

Hilton Head Island’s Town Council on March 18 adopted a second‑reading ordinance authorizing a long‑term lease of town‑owned property on Augusta Lane to Sandalwood Community Food Pantry.

The motion to adopt the ordinance was moved and seconded at the meeting. Nanette Pearson, who signed up to speak in support, described the pantry’s role serving hundreds and thanked council and town staff for their assistance: “This resilient pantry that you have all supported will do just that,” she said. After the public comment period the council voted; the motion carried 6–1.
