The City Council approved the purchase of a 2025 RAVO R5 vacuum street sweeper at a not-to-exceed price of $330,000.
Public Works Foreman Chase Forester told the Council that the existing 2016 mechanical sweeper is facing increased downtime and that vacuum technology better suits Edgerton's needs and LPKC operations. Forester said features such as an articulating arm and light vacuum capability allow crews to reach into storm boxes to remove leaves and debris.
Councilmember Bill Malloy asked about warranty and local mechanics; Forester said local repair technicians are available and Public Works Director Dan Merkh added there is a two-year warranty on the machine. Council approved the purchase 4-0, and Mayor Donald Roberts asked staff to show the new sweeper to Council after delivery.
The City indicated the old machine will be sold at online auction; no trade-in value is expected.
