Council approves closures, permits, alcohol waiver and indemnity requests for Meat Inferno festival

The Council approved a slate of resolutions on Sept. 11 to facilitate the Meat Inferno community festival. Recreation Superintendent Brittany Paddock outlined road closures that would begin at 7:00 AM Friday, Oct. 3, and reopen by 6:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, and temporary no-parking rules from noon Oct. 2 through noon Oct. 6 to keep emergency access clear. Paddock said, "The street closing would help prevent any issues and make it more accessible to more residents and kids." Council approved the closures and no-parking rules 4–0.
Paddock also opened and closed a public hearing to waive the city's prohibition on alcohol sales for the event; she said Tipsy Tavern, a state-licensed traveling bar with a catering license, would operate between 5:00–10:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 3. Council approved the temporary alcohol-distance waiver and the special event permit 4–0; Council also approved an indemnity agreement with Edgerton United Methodist Church to allow use of the church parking lots, with the expectation the church area will be cleaned by Sunday service and trailers over 40 feet will be restricted on new pavement.
