The Edgerton City Council voted Sept. 11 to accept a $220,000 planning grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to develop an Edgerton Safety Action Plan. CIP Project Manager Holly Robertson told the Council the City applied in May 2024 and this is the first time the City has been awarded an SS4A grant; she said state Build Kansas funds were used as match. City Administrator Beth Linn said "there are zero dollars coming from the City" and that an additional $265,000 from other sources was leveraged to support the program.
Robertson explained the Safety Action Plan will open opportunities for future infrastructure projects and safety improvements; Councilmember Josh Lewis credited increased staff capacity for helping secure the award. Council approved accepting the grant 4-0.
