The Edgerton City Council approved Ordinance No. 2180 on July 24, designating four streets as main trafficways and thereby preserving an option to finance qualifying projects with general obligation (GO) bonds in the future.
Bond Counsel Kevin Wimpy described the technical purpose of the ordinance and City Administrator Beth Linn told council that designation "does not obligate the City to issue notes or bonds" and that any such financing would require future Council approval. Councilmember Josh Lewis moved to approve the ordinance and the motion carried 4-0.
The action is procedural: it creates eligibility for a financing tool should the city later choose to use GO debt for a capital project. No GO notes or bonds were issued as part of this meeting; any issuance would require separate Council action.
