Council awards 2025 curb work to Sunflower Paving for street preservation

The Edgerton City Council on May 8 approved awarding the 2025 Street Preservation curb-work contract to Sunflower Paving following a public bid that produced seven submissions.
Construction Inspector Todd Veeman told the Council the bid included a base scope and two alternates and staff recommends awarding the base and both alternates to Sunflower Paving. "We did check references, which all came back positive," Veeman said, and staff noted the work will address significant curb damage at LPKC as well as repairs in residential areas.
Councilmember Clay Longanecker asked about the contractor vetting and the nature of the work; Veeman said the company does substantial work in Topeka and staff had positive reference checks. Councilmember Ron Conus moved to approve the contract, Councilmember Deb Lebakken seconded, and the motion carried, 4-0.
The City indicated it will later return with a Pavement Condition Index project as part of its Street Preservation Program planning.
