Edgerton receives clean 2024 audit; Council approves report

The Edgerton City Council accepted the City's 2024 audited financial statements at its May 8 meeting after a presentation by April Swartz of Varney & Associates.
"The City received a clean audit for 2024," April Swartz told the Council and said the audit covers each city fund, including water and sewer, and shows no violations. She specifically referenced the auditor's demonstration of compliance with Kansas Budget Law on page 16 of the report.
City Administrator Beth Linn thanked the finance team for its work and the Council moved to approve the audit. Councilmember Clay Longanecker made the motion, Councilmember Bill Malloy seconded, and the motion carried, 4-0.
The auditors noted the municipality provided additional documentation for transparency; no corrective actions or violations were identified in the report. The Council's acceptance means the audit will be filed as the official audited financial statements for 2024.
