Sheriff urges stop signs on Indian Road; announces livestock briefing Aug. 26

Wichita County Sheriff Kris Casper raised traffic safety concerns at the intersection of Indian Road and H Street (the dirt road north of the school) and asked the City of Leoti Council to consider installing stop signs at that location. Councilmembers discussed the request and later approved an ordinance authorizing new stop signs in the city.
Casper also announced that Special Agent James Pinegar of the Kansas Attorney General's Livestock Investigation Unit will present a briefing for law enforcement, livestock owners and the general public on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Building. The announcement was made during the public‑comment portion of the meeting.
