Lafayette honors volunteers across commissions and task forces at community event

The council paused official business to recognize the city’s volunteer commissioners, committee members and task-force participants. Council member Kandel introduced a series of advisory groups and described their roles — citing CPAC for past work on the road and drain bond and the Design Review Commission for preserving community character — while Council member Cervantes and Mayor Angeria offered thanks to many individuals by name.
Mayor Angeria described a small token of appreciation prepared by City Clerk Joanne Robbins — an emergency-preparedness kit with a blanket, stormproof matches and a batteryless flashlight in a branded bag — and asked liaison commissioners to present the gifts before attendees left. The meeting concluded with an invitation to cake and ice cream in the foyer and adjournment.
