Superintendent Lori Maxwell told the board on Aug. 11 that preliminary enrollment for the 2025-26 school year is down by 23 students (five at the grade school and 18 at the junior-senior high school), attributing part of the decline to a large graduating class the prior year. Maxwell said the district will not exceed the revenue neutral rate for 2025-26.
The board set a public budget hearing for Sept. 8 at 6:50 p.m. The proposed budget will be published in the Wichita County Native Sun on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 as required by state notice procedures.
