Council approves wellhead protection plan draft and will submit to state

Utility department staff (speaker S6) presented the final rendition of the town's wellhead protection plan and described the red-line map as the aquifer recharge/recharge-rate boundary that feeds the drinking-water well field. Staff said the plan is essentially complete and needs a council vote and signatures before it is submitted to the state for acceptance.
A council member asked staff to ensure the meeting sign-in sheet demonstrates public notice and participation. After brief clarifying questions about the map and the recharge circle, the council approved sending the signed plan to the state. "It is the recharge rate for our aquifer," S6 said of the map's boundary. The clerk will collect signatures and transmit the document once it is finalized.
