The Conservation Advisory Commission (CAC) is seeking a $150,000 grant to assess flood-prone properties and prepare a conservation initiative; the board authorized the supervisor to sign the application. Robert (speaker 4) described the CAC’s work in preparing the grant materials and the board expressed support for the effort.
Separately, the board approved a small, upfront expenditure of approximately $363 for the CAC to purchase tarp and mulch for the butterfly garden at Mittenorf Park. Board members discussed that the CAC had received notice via email that the $1,931 grant was expected, but that a final official vote and disbursement were still pending; the $363 payment was approved with the understanding it could be reimbursed if the grant is formally awarded.
Supervisor (speaker 2) noted CAC volunteers produced the grant applications and would administer the projects if awarded. The board's action allows the conservation work to proceed this season while staff complete formal grant paperwork.
