Council member Ryan Alter read a proclamation declaring July 2026 as Parks and Recreation Month in Austin and highlighted how parks promote health, wellness and community connection. Alter said the month is recognized nationwide and credited the National Recreation and Park Association for the observance.
Jesus Aguirre, Austin’s Parks and Recreation Director, thanked staff, temporary employees, volunteers and partners and urged attendees to visit a photo exhibit honoring the people who maintain parks and recreation services.
