Substitute shortages and ESS procedures surface as operational challenge

"If we had more 0.5 days set up, would teachers rather have 0.5 day of coverage somewhere than not have anybody at all?" the speaker asked, describing scheduling conflicts and transportation constraints.
Speakers urged the district to consider more flexible half-day assignments, creating building-based floaters, and simplifying registration steps to encourage retirees and working parents to sign up. The Chair asked staff to review substitute contracting and ESS operations and to report back at a future meeting.
