Michelle Miller, representing the Arthritis Foundation, addressed the City Council during Chronic Illness Awareness Month remarks and emphasized arthritis as a major cause of disability. "Arthritis is the number 1 disability in our nation," Miller said, adding that "1 in 4 adults have arthritis," and noting the foundation recently opened an Austin office in 2025 to expand local support and programming.
Miller described services including education, exercise and pain-management resources, insurance guidance and webinars, and encouraged residents to visit arthritis.org or text a hotline number for support and advocacy.
