Engineering lays out FY2026 priorities: beach renourishment, pathways, stormwater and pump station overhaul

Jeff Detsinger, director of engineering and project delivery, walked the commission through a multi-year Capital Improvement Program with staff recommendations for priority items in fiscal year 2026. Detsinger said beach renourishment is the top priority (project bid package released), and that pathway work (Jonesville Road) and signal-system resiliency upgrades (battery backups at signals) are among the near-term deliverables.
Detsinger listed active and upcoming projects including dirt-road paving candidates, segment-focused improvements to William Hilton Parkway, park projects (Crossings Park phases and Old Schoolhouse improvements), and stormwater projects such as Moonshell Road and an overhaul of a major pump station between Wexford and Long Cove. Commissioners reviewed the staff priority list and a motion to concur with staff priorities passed unanimously.
What’s next: staff will pass the prioritized CIP package to town council as the planning commission’s recommended priorities for council consideration during budget development.
