Committee compiles $1.99M affiliated-agency recommendation for town budget first reading

The Hilton Head Island finance committee reviewed a slate of affiliated-agency grant applications and moved to forward a combined recommendation of $1,988,516 to the town manager for inclusion in the FY 2025–26 budget first reading. The recommended awards include $1,252,366 for the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association, $141,650 for the Coastal Discovery Museum and $42,000 for the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation; one large request from the Coastal Community Development Corporation (CCDC) for $750,000 was held pending additional information.
Chair and staff summarized the committee’s intent to vet applications and to refine memoranda of understanding with agencies that operate on town property or receive town services. As staff recapped, “The committee has granted [the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation] $42,000... The Coastal Discovery Museum, the ask was 141,650. The committee has granted that amount. The next one is the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association... The committee has granted that amount.” The committee also moved that those recommendations be included in the budget first-reading package and asked the town manager and staff to continue work on MOU updates and policy guidance for future affiliated-agency funding.
