Sgt. Moffitt briefed the board on the police department's operational and facility needs and asked the Planning Board to include those needs in Master Plan advocacy. "The current system is horrendously outdated and it needs to be updated," he said, describing outdated dispatch computers and insufficient evidence storage.
Moffitt said the department frequently brings people to the current building for interviews and processes that require secure spaces, and he was not enthusiastic about placing police operations in the school's K wing because of access and proximity concerns. Board members agreed the Master Plan should reflect public-safety infrastructure needs to support future warrant articles and capital requests.
