CRA staff updated the board on ongoing rehabilitation at Tampa Union Station, saying Amtrak had relocated to a temporary space to allow interior renovations to proceed. Director McCray reported exterior tinting and window/door rehabilitation are underway and that crews found unexpected internal degradation when opening walls.
A board member who has championed Union Station said the work will preserve the historic facility and create new opportunities for co-working and concessions once rehabilitation is complete. Staff said additional assessment of internal damage means the project may take longer than initially planned and that further updates will appear in the August report.
